Smoking & Vaping

1. Strictly no smoking or vaping indoors

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside all Muddy Boots Escapes properties. This applies to every guest and visitor, in every room and indoor area.

The rule includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, electronic cigarettes and other vaping devices. Opening a window or door does not make indoor smoking or vaping permitted.

2. Outdoor seating areas and neighbours

Smoking and vaping are permitted in the outdoor seating areas at Scarpa, Arcade Royale and La Petite Mews. Ashtrays are supplied at all three properties.

Keep smoke and vapour away from open doors, windows and neighbouring properties. Please respect neighbours and other guests, and observe our quiet hours of 11pm to 7am.

Use the ashtrays provided and fully extinguish cigarettes. Do not leave cigarette ends on the ground or put hot ashes or smoking materials into bins. Keep smoking materials away from children and combustible items.

3. Fire safety and alarms

Never cover, disconnect or interfere with smoke alarms, heat detectors or other safety equipment. Follow the property’s fire-safety and evacuation instructions.

If an alarm sounds, follow the instructions provided and do not assume it is a false alarm. In an emergency, call 999.

4. Cleaning, damage and the security pre-authorisation

Please tell us promptly if smoking or vaping has taken place indoors or has caused damage, so that we can assess what is needed.

Where a breach causes additional cleaning, odour treatment or damage, any proposed charge will be assessed under the General Booking Terms & Conditions and Damage & Security Deposits policy, taking account of the evidence and reasonable costs. Normal cleaning is not automatically charged again.

The £250 direct-booking security pre-authorisation is not an automatic fine or forfeiture. We will provide evidence and explain any proposed charge, giving you 48 hours to respond before taking payment. We will consider your response; if you reasonably need more time, please contact us promptly. A lack of response is not, by itself, proof of responsibility. Any charge must reflect reasonable, evidenced loss attributable to the breach, without double recovery. This policy does not remove your statutory rights.
